New video: Rob Welch

The first in a series of many short Diamondback films which will be released over 2012. First up, Rob Welch comes out fighting with this quality edit!

Rob said: “This was my first edit of 2012, which me and Nico Turner decided to make to show off what we have both learned over winter in terms of not only my riding but also his filming.

The whole goal of the edit was to send as many bangers as possible on my part and put it together in different style. After a couple days filming we where happy with what we had put together and we think it turned out great and I genuinly believe that it shows what’s capable on my Diamondback Assualt.

In my opinion the frame has the best geometry I’ve ever ridden, and with it being alloy its also super light.

Overall I’m super happy with the edit, and I can’t wait to film the next one, as well as to show off my new bike in as many competitions as possible this year. Thanks Diamondback!”

John, Luc and Matt go ride some new metal!

After fighting rush hour traffic from two different directions the FiveTwo descended upon the historic orange cheese town of Leicester this week to look at the shiny bikes and have a ride on the DB Assault, Assault 2 and Bandito.

The lads later headed back south to Chicksands to ride some more familiar dirt. The pictures tell a tale of what went down but the opinion from all of us on the new Diamondback bikes is simple and can be summarised by a simple word – AWESOME!

Phil Evans rides for the FiveTwo team. He’s now lucky enough to be equipped by Diamondback with their new fully fledged BMX race bike, the swish Diamondback Reactor. Phil is loving the bike and said its perfect for the job in hand. Watch out riders in the gate – he is looking rapid in 2012!

How to get out on your bike after being ill… by Jay Cowley

So a lot of colds and illnesses go around this time of year. When you feel ill and have a cold how do you get over it, and what’s it like to ride when you’re ill?

Jay Cowley, Diamondback team rider: “Yeah, it isn’t very nice at all. I’ve been laid up with a heavy cold for a couple of weeks recently. Trying to ride when you’re ill just isn’t cool. I get head aches, short of breath and dizzy.
How do i get through it? I tend to go out for rides out on the road on my cross country bike to try and sweat it out. And just drink lots of water. I try to ride BMX on the days when I feel ok, taking it steady, concentrating on staying balanced on the ramps. I could stay at home under the douvet but it’s good to get some energy flowing to boost your system.”

Jay Cowley, long haired over-breaded person you are, what have you been up to over the winter season?
”Ha! thanks, yeah i have been good, busy with work over xmas having a bike shop to run but had been out as much as i can on evenings, and Friday bike night session were really good.”

You had a good Xmas and New Years then?
“yer was not bad really. in and out of injury but just like rode thru it. just one of those things you have to get thru really..’

So you have any plans for the Spring then?
Just to get over little injuries and get out on the bike, and I’m looking at travelling across the UK a bit this spring as there are some wicked places i wanna ride again. looking at going to the new Deeside park in Wales at the end of Feb, and heading to Corby and Terminal One in March with fellow DB rider Chris Czako.
I was half way thru making an new video edit but this has been put back til I am all fit and well again. I’m dealing with shoulder, back and foot injuries at the mo, so will resume it again shortly.”

Diamondback 2012 catalogue

Team Diamondback arrived at work this morning to find several thousand copies of the new Diamondback 2012 catalogue had arrived!

They’ll be hitting the shops from Feb 2012 and they’ll be up on www.diamondback.co.uk/MTB/Download/Catalogues/ by the end of January.
